Studio 151 offers a unique experience that seamlessly blends the art of Omakase with a fantastic listening room ambiance. The sushi Omakase was a delightful journey of flavors, each piece crafted with precision and creativity. The intimate setting of the listening room enhanced the overall enjoyment, making it a perfect place for both sushi enthusiasts and music lovers. Studio 151 is a hidden gem where culinary excellence meets musical pleasure – a must-visit for those seeking a refined and memorable night out.
Really fantastic atmosphere and service. A mix of a low-key omakase bar with a speakeasy vinyl bar (as a result, the music set a really nice mood for the whole dinner). The sushi was great (not the best I've ever had but very good!) although be warned that you will need to book a specific, non-hightop, table in order to get the full omakase. It was relatively expensive which is to be expected for a NYC omakase spot.
Great vibe, cool concept, disappointing service.
They were out of most of their appetizers and some of their menu items. Table and seats were wobbly and we immediately spilled our water when trying to sit down because of the unstable seating. Bartender was amazing, very attentive and made the best drink I’ve ever received.
The wait staff is the main reason for the 1 star. After finishing our 5 pieces of over priced sashimi, my friend went to the bathroom and I closed the check. I left a cash tip. As I waited for my friend to come back, the host told me they needed the table for the next reservation and to go sit on the couch. It was a little abrupt since we hadn’t been there that long and we weren’t aware of a time limit for dining. After I moved to the couch, another host came over with my bill and asked me if I was dissatisfied with my service. I said the bartender was great and I left a cash tip as a thanks. She then told me I needed to revise my bill and add a tip on my card. She handed me back the bill and waited for me to write in an additional tip (on top of the cash I already left)… I thought she was kidding at first but she was not and kept insisting. I was so offended but felt cornered and pressured with the staff member hovering over me while I waited for my friend. Really disappointing way to end what we thought was going to be a great experience.
It’s so unfortunate that I’m rating this a 1-star because the food and drinks were great, bartender was so friendly and helpful. However the hostess was incredibly rude, kicking us out of our table. We totally understood that they had other reservations coming for the table we were at, but they did it in such a rude manner. After we were made to leave the table, some other lady came to us insisting that we needed to tip more, even after we left a good tip in cash. She was so condescending about it and guilt trip us into giving more of a tip even after we paid and were ready to head out. That has never happened to me before and was so insulting. How about you pay your staff a better wage rather than asking customers to compensate! Would never come back here again, so overpriced for the amount you get and such rude condescending staff (except the bartender, she was sweet).
First, we had a reservation at the high top and there was nothing open so we got seated near the buzzer for the door to open. We waited over 45 minutes for just appetizers and it wasn’t until 40 minutes into waiting they told us they are out of the wasabi peas? That’s something one could easily tell. The drink was ok, but took forever to get. Overall the sushi was very good, and the vibe was nice, but the timing was just poor. For 11 pieces of sushi and 2 apps we were there for over 2 hours and $300 later. The waitress was very nice and apologized.
Had the omakase here on a Monday with group of 3. Stayed for the sushi party which turned out to be a great decision since Anderson Paak made an appearance. Vibes were immaculate. Food was pretty solid. Next time I’d just come for a la carte since you can actually order any omakase item a la carte.
One of my favorite spots. Awesome tasteful vibe. Great music, it can be hip, mainstream, underground seamlessly, love it. Very nice, cool staff. Delicious hand rolls. Nice drink selection. Being next to Nublu is a plus if there is anything live going on.
Great local spot for drinks and sushi. Around midnight the vibe changes from chill dinner to louder/party - both are fun. Host was somewhat uptight, which didn't fit the overall vibe
